Bully #2

I love listening to people's childhood stories. I was hanging out with my mom and sister yesterday, and they told me how my dad, who lost his father at a young age, was teased by another boy at school for being an orphan. My dad got so mad that he beat the crap out of the boy, and from that point forward, he became Bully #2 (yup, apparently his school ranked the bullies - ha!) When my dad went back to Japan this past spring for the first time in over 35 years, he unsuccessfully tried to contact Bully #1 but ran into Bully #3 (who didn't remember my dad.) So funny. When I was growing up, my dad used to bring home injured birds or baby birds neglected by their mothers. The birds kept dying under his care (he used to tell us that they "flew" away - now we know better.) But he kept bringing them home. Maybe he saw himself in those little birds...
