Hi everyone, I thought I'd ask ahead of time for a change...B and I are planning a one week trip to Southern Utah and we'd love your suggestions on where to stay, where to eat, and what not to miss. We are planning to spend time in Zion and Bryce for sure, but we also know there is so much more to see!
If we do this on our own, we are likely to use the AAA guides, which did get us an amazing Arizona trip, but I also know that you guys are a wealth of information. We are especially interested in lodging suggestions, whether cute motels, condo rentals, or others...but we aren't big campers.
Anyhoo, I'd love to hear your suggestions. Please feel free to leave a comment or PM me on Ravelry (my user name is the same).
Thank you in advance!

Springdale is such a great place to stay if you're going to Zion. There are many good places to stay...this is my fav. http://www.redrockinn.com/
Make sure you go to Kolob Canyon, which is part of Zion but seperate...it's as red as rock can get. The best place to stay in Bryce is Ruby's Inn. It's not anything special, but it's close. You can also stay at the Bryce Lodge but it's harder to get into. Any questions let me know!
I can't give you any recommendations on places to stay since we've always camped, but you will LOVE southern utah! It is so beautiful! I'm assuming that you'd be driving up from CA, not flying in through Salt Lake, right?
Sounds like you have a fun trip planned! Zion and Bryce canyon are gorgeous. I haven't been in a long time, so I can't really help you. I'm sure you'll find some fun places.
We just went to Zion last January. Very beautiful. We stayed in Kanab at the Victorian Charm Inn, which is full of victorian decor. Fire place, jacuzi tub and poster bed. I highly recommend it.
Look into a Bed & Breakfast. Dad used to stay in them when he traveled so much for his job. We have stayed in several and love them.

Hey! I'm from Southern Utah originally, living in Las Vegas now.
For food I would highly recommend the Zion Pizza and Noodle Company in Springdale. I also like the Pizza Factory and Pasta Factory in St. George. Also in St. George I have heard really good things about The Bear Paw and the Painted Pony.
On the way up to Springdale and Zion there is a place called Fort Zion that has a gift shop and petting zoo and homemade prickly pear cactus ice cream Yum!
If you want more hiking and outdoors stuff there is also Snow Canyon State Park.
If you are into art there is Coyote Gulch Art Village out in Ivins. http://www.coyotegulchartvillage.com/
I'm kind of partial to them though as my Mom manages, and displays her artwork, at the Juniper Sky Gallery out there. :P
Sadly there is no LYS, to my knowledge, I haven't really looked for one in the last couple years. :(
Anyway, as I said, I am a local so feel free to contact me with any questions. :)
