The bib, which is made out of really soft, 100% cotton, obviously has Bob's cute mug on the front and is solid kelly green on the back. It has a generous neck opening and a velcro closure in back, which makes it a perfect fit for babies of all sizes. And, it's Bean-approved! You should get at least one, seriously.

Get Bob!
Public Service Announcement for anyone who has or knows a wee one: Ravelry now has adorable baby bibs! Bean was happy to model one. :)

FO: Blossom
I started knitting this sweater for Bean when I was pregnant. She just turned 4 months old last week and I finally got around to finishing it.
Happy 4 months, sweetheart!
Okay, back to the sweater! My goal was to finish it...well, when she could still fit into it. I haven't tried it on her yet, but it will still fit, so yay! Given how crazy life has been over the last several months, I consider this a pretty big achievement. :)
Blossom
Pattern: Baby Sweater on Two Needles (February) by Elizabeth Zimmerman (Ravlink)
Yarn: Rowan Wool Cotton (50% merino wool, 50% cotton) in 943 (Flower) - 3 balls
Needles: US6
I decided to knit the sleeves in the round (I mean, why not?) and go with just 3 buttons at the top only. I was excited to find these little pearly buttons that had just a tinge of lavender/pink. Perfect!
I wanted to knit a special baby sweater for Bean (well, at least one!) and I think I succeeded. Then again, how can you go wrong with EZ? You can't! I'm looking forward to seeing her wear it this fall and winter, and I look forward to knitting her more sweaters in the future. :)
What do you think about that, little lady?

FO or WIP?
Sorry for the lack of blog posts, but I have a good excuse! I was away making this...definitely my most gratifying project by far! :)

Let the Bean knitting commence!
So we know I've been all about the baby knits as of late, but I had been concentrating my efforts on knitting baby gifts for friends' babies, not my own. Until now. So exciting! I'm planning to knit a February Baby Sweater for her soon, but I'm starting out with a cute little tee. The pattern is Country Kiddie (Ravlink) by Pixie Purls and the yarn is (now discontinued) Lana Grossa Meilenweit Cotton Multiringel.
I bought this yarn - I don't even know when, but it was years ago - from Knit Cafe. I fell in love with it on sight and it's been sitting patiently in le stash all this time, just waiting for the perfect project to be paired with. Many months ago, I came across this pattern on Ravelry and bookmarked it immediately. A cute, simple baby top, that you can knit with a small amount of sock yarn (of which I have a plethora) - I knew it was only a matter of time before I would knit one of these for someone. Little did I know it would be for my little one. But wouldn't you know, everything fell into place and I think it's the perfect coming together of pattern and yarn for a very special recipient. I'm really enjoying this project for all of the above reasons. The colors are bright and cheery, the stripes keep my interest, and picturing little Bean wearing it one day makes fills me with happiness.
I must have been really inspired by this garment over the weekend, because at our weekly trip to the market yesterday, I picked up a colorful assortment of gerber daisies in much of the same colors.
Oh and speaking of babies and knitted gifts for friends, you may remember that I knitted a toy snail for Julia's baby shower last year. Well, Griffin is now 6 months old, and I'm overjoyed to know that he loves Snailsace- he even *reads* to him! Yay!
Honestly, knitting for babies - whether for your friends' or your own - does it get any better? I really think not!

De-stashing (and Re-stashing)
During tough economic times such as these, who wants to be buying more yarn? Uh, wait, let me rephrase that. Who can afford to keep buying more yarn (without guilt)? Not me. Especially when I already have an overflowing stash lurking in the corner. So what's a girl to do? Turn to her friends, of course!
This past Sunday, spurred on by Julia, a bunch of us got together for an afternoon of de-stashing, and yes, re-stashing. Upon arrival, I was greeted by hugs from good friends and a mountain of fibery goodness, to which I promptly contributed a bag full of yarn. The result:
And we're talking good stuff, people! It was like Christmas! I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I ended up leaving with even more than I brought. Julia sent me home with a couple of pregnancy/birthing books, a copy of Goodnight Moon for Bean, some maternity clothes, and yes, I took home some yarn:
My haul of (interestingly) pastel-paletted softness: Rowan Cotton Glace, Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton, RYC Cashsoft Baby DK, Misti Alpaca Lace, Blue Sky Alpacas 100% Alpaca Sport, Valeria di Roma 100% Angora, and I'm not sure, but I think it may be Lornas Laces.
In my defense, 1) it was less than I brought with me and 2) they made me do it! Seriously. I was surrounded by professional enablers. *cough*MJ*cough* Kat specifically brought the Blue Sky and Cashsoft goodness with me and Bean in mind, Julia saved the Angora for me after remembering that I fell in love with a beret she knitted out of it a couple years ago, and I was *forced* to take the Cotton Glace because "it's perfect for a baby girl!" As for the Misti Lace, well it's just beautiful and I know I could knit a pretty shawl with it, and the sock yarn is just gorgeous and *had* to go home with me.
Incidentally, it just occurred to me that I don't think I ever mentioned here that B and I recently learned the gender of our baby. Bean is a girl! I had a feeling this was the case all along, and this was confirmed a few weeks ago. We're at 23 1/2 weeks now, and Bean is growing - and moving - more and more each day. And yes, I'm growing as well- the bump is in full effect!
I must say, I love it. I absolutely love being pregnant. Despite some of the usual discomfort associated with being nearly 6 months pregnant, I've been really lucky thus far, and I feel great overall. And I'm oh so excited to be adding a girl to the mix of recently born baby boys. :)
So now- what to make?? All I know for sure so far is that Bean will be getting a pair of angora booties, but other than that, I really have no idea. Any suggestions?
